Tourist cards are available in many cities in the world. They include free entries or discounts to museums and many other attractions and transport. Usually cards are worth buying, but it also depends on how much time you plan to spend in the city and what your way of visiting is. If you like visiting museums, such cards usually pay off more.
Gdańsk and the Pomerania region also have tourist cards with different packages. There is the most standard one only for Gdańsk; there are also packages including other places in the region and special restaurant packages.
In this blog post, I will describe practical details regarding the card; we will also look closer to see if the Gdańsk Tourist Card is worth it.
In short, I can tell you that it is. Looking at the prices of single museum tickets and the price of the card, the card is a great deal.
But let’s look in detail at what’s included in the packages so that you can see if it’s a deal for you.
Gdańsk Card Practical Info
Let’s look firstly at the card dedicated to Gdańsk.
Where to buy
You can buy the card online but also in local places like tourist information offices (even at the airport) or hotels. Check here for the full list of places and online payment.
If you order the card online, it can be sent to your home, or you can pick it up when you arrive in Gdańsk.
You can choose the physical version of the card, which costs an additional 5 zł (around 1.20 euro), or opt for the card in the app on your phone.
The card is assigned to your name, so it can be used only by one person.
Options
There are two packages: the Explorer Package and the Premium Explorer Package, with even more attractions included.
Both packages have 3 options: for 24, 48 or 72 hours.
When you buy the card, you can indicate the time when it should be active.
Each package has a regular adult price and a reduced price for kids.
Here the most expensive one (Premium 72 hours for adults) costs now 120 zł, which is around 28 euro or 25 pounds. You can see that the price is really good.
It actually already covers 3 ‘must-see’ museums (ECS, II World War and Amber Museums), which single tickets at the moment would cost 114 zł. And that’s not all, there are more free entries.
What’s included in the card
Here you can review in detail what’s included in which package to see which one is more for you.
Honestly, I think it’s better to buy the Premium package. The difference in price is not so big, and you will have 10 more places with the free entry, including the Second World War Museum, The Crane and interesting branches of Gdańsk City Museum like Artus Court and Uphagen House. These are likely the places you may want to visit.
The most recommended places available in the standard (and premium) package are Amber Museum, the Main City Hall, Hevelianum, and Gdańsk ZOO.
Discounts
There are also many discounts included for interesting places and attractions: a few restaurants, AmberSky, Olivia Star viewpoint, kayaking in the centre tours or Fast Track and Lounge in Gdańsk Airport.
A few from all these mentioned places are really must-see for everyone visiting Gdańsk, so even if you are not the person who is very museums-orientated, looking at even just some places from the card list and discounts, the card really makes sense.
Tastes of Gdańsk Card
There is one more tourist card package for Gdańsk which you can buy separately. It’s called ‘Tastes of Gdańsk’, and it applies to the meal in one of the restaurants from the list.
You can review restaurants and the proposed menu, and it would be best to book them in advance (and confirm the booking is for the special menu with the card).
What’s included is 3-dish special menu referencing the tastes and food of Gdańsk. In one of the menus I even saw ‘amber ice cream’.
You can eat such a meal in these restaurants without the card too (for 130 zł for one set), but with the card it’s cheaper. You can buy the card for one, two or four sets (1 set=3-course meal).
You can use them for two or four people and eat together or use them just for one person and eat different sets in different restaurants. The card is valid for 30 days.
Here you will find all the details, restaurants with contact details and proposed menus. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page to the ‘Smaki Gdańska-Tastes’ chapter.
You can buy the card online or at chosen locations. It’s a great option if you like interesting local tastes and restaurants.

Pomerania Tourist Card
There are also other options for packages which cover places outside Gdańsk.
They work very similarly and can be bought online or at the place; it’s just the number of places is smaller compared to the Gdańsk card.
Here you will find details.
Gdynia package
There is a separate package for visiting Gdynia (in 24 or 48 hours) with 8 attractions included. A 48-hour package costs 117 zł; it’s also a very good price compared to single tickets. In the package you have all the ‘must-see’ points included. I especially recommend the City Museum and the Museum of Emigration for adults and the Aquarium and Science Centre Experiment if you visit with kids.
Tricity package
It’s a good choice if you are planning to visit other cities in Tricity. It will be useful for Sopot and Gdynia; however, I think it doesn’t cover Gdańsk very well. So maybe it could be your second package in addition to the Gdańsk one.
Pomerania region
This package could be a good choice if you have more time to visit the region. You will rather not manage to use it if you are coming for a 3-day visit, but if you are planning a longer trip or holidays, it might be useful. There are a few attractions from Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot included, but also other ones like Malbork Castle (which is probably the most well-known attraction in the region outside Tricity) or the museum in Tczew.
It’s advertised as the perfect package for people who are visiting Pomerania by bike. I think it’s true. I don’t think it’s a great solution if you are mostly basing yourself in Gdańsk/Tricity.
Summing up, I think especially the Gdańsk Card premium version is really good value for money. What’s nice is it covers these most-known and visited attractions, which I also recommend.
It’s also quite well organised; you can buy the physical version of the card and just install the app called ‘Gdansk Tourist Card – Visit Gdansk’, create the account, buy your card there and use it when entering attractions.
You can also top up your card with a public transport ticket.
