If you are planning to visit Bydgoszcz for longer than one day and searching for the best accommodation, this post is for you. I will review and describe the best hotels in the city.

Bydgoszcz is a big city with around 350 000 inhabitants, and it has quite a wide choice of accommodation options. There are different types, but mostly it will be hotels.

There are many hotels around the city centre, and this is where I suggest staying. It will be the most comfortable for visiting.

Bydgoszcz is a little bit cheaper than other more well-known Polish cities (like Warsaw or GdaƄsk), and generally you can expect good conditions for relatively reasonable prices.

Let’s check where to stay in Bydgoszcz.

Classics

I will start with the biggest ‘classics’ and symbols of the city. There are two hotels that are the most known in the city and have been there for a long time.

Hotel Pod OrƂem

Hotel Focus Pod OrƂem is more than a hotel; it’s a monument and an architectural icon of the city. At the moment it’s a part of the chain Focus Hotels.

In the same place at the beginning of the 19th century, there was a small guesthouse. The current building of Hotel Pod OrƂem was built in 1994-1996, designed by local architect Józef ƚwięcicki. Since then it has been working as a hotel with different owners.

The building has a beautiful decorative facade as well as an interior. Especially the staircase with gold-platted handrails and stained-glass windows. There is also an elegant restaurant.

The restaurant and the hall can be visited from outside, so even if you don’t decide to stay in this hotel, it’s worth entering for a moment.

The rooms part (rooms are also very elegant and stylish) is obviously only available for hotel guests.

The hotel is located on GdaƄska Street, in a very good location, within walking distance of the Old Market Square and other interesting parts of the city (and to the Christmas market).

City Hotel

The first guests visited City Hotel in 1992 (it has had some developments since then), so it has been there for a long time, and we can say it’s another symbol of the city. It’s a 4-star hotel with a good restaurant, sauna and jacuzzi. The interior is like a ‘typical hotel’, maybe a little bit outdated in some parts.

The location is good; it’s in the city centre, but it’s a bit of longer walk to the touristic attractions.

I would say due to location and vibe, it’s more of a business trip hotel.

Review it more here.

Other Most Recommended Hotels

Obviously, there are more interesting and recommended places to stay in the city.

Bohema Boutique&Spa: another elegant and very stylish hotel in the house with the history. It’s a smaller, 5-star boutique hotel with a swimming pool and a very good spa. There are two restaurants in the hotel, one called Weranda (my parents visit it and like it for different celebrations) and the restaurant Czarny Diament, where dinners in total darkness are organised.

The hotel is located in the pretty park, close to the Deluge Fountain, but also close to other city attractions.

Mercure Sepia: a hotel located just next to the Opera, close to Mill Island and Old Market Square. It’s a hotel from the Mercure chain, 4-star, so you know what quality you can expect. It has a nice interior with a bit of a ‘cinematic’ style.

Rezydencja Sowa (Residence Sowa): a bit different place from a typical hotel, more apartment-style with stylish apartments in the middle of Old Town. Just a few steps from the bridge, which is probably the most known and pictured spot in Bydgoszcz, and from the Old Market Square. During the Christmas Market, you will be right in the middle.

The residence is located in the renovated historic building with a new part added, in a complex together with a restaurant and a café.

You may notice it has the same symbol and the name as cafĂ©. It’s not an accident. The cafĂ© Sowa is the most famous local confectionery in the city and is actually known and available in all of Poland.

La Mare Houseboats: a pretty new place in the city but with good opinions on booking portals. Interesting apartments in houseboats at the river, next to Mill Island.

Other Places

Close to the main train station there is Q18 ApartHotel, with different types of apartments, all with private kitchens. It’s a close walk to the station, and it’s in the centre, a bit further from the main touristic attractions (although still walkable).

The hotel has very good opinions, especially on Booking.

There is no airport hotel in Bydgoszcz; however, I don’t think it’s a problem, as the airport is close to the city centre and it’s easy to reach. More about airport in Bydgoszcz you can read in this blog post.

Other hotels that will likely appear when you are doing any research:

Focus Hotel Premium: recommended on booking portals, especially with positive feedback regarding the food and breakfast. Located at the river, it has a good location and could be used for both business and touristic trips.

Hotel SƂoneczny MƂyn: a hotel in the 19th-century mill with some art deco elements in interior. Nice location and views at the river; however, it’s a bit further from the centre, not ‘easy walking distance’. It can be a good location if you are coming for any event organised in Ɓuczniczka Arena.

PrzystaƄ Bydgoszcz: here be careful, as it can be a bit misleading; it has a great location (on the Mill Island) and has water equipment rental, but it’s rather basic, maybe even more like a hostel.

Obviously it’s not yet all of the hotels and places to stay in Bydgoszcz; there are also private apartments if you prefer such a type of accommodation, but I think I presented the most known or interesting places. Hopefully additional descriptions will help you to choose.
